Breast Groping Attacks Again Terrorise Female Runners in Sewon, Bantul

A woman became the victim of a breast groping attack while out for a morning run in Sewon, Bantul. The victim has now reported the incident to the police.

The harassment occurred on Friday (28/8). Police are currently investigating the case.

Sewon Police Chief AKP Sutrisno said he was aware of the information. According to him, members of the Sewon Police had visited the scene of the incident.

“It is true (there was a breast groping attack in Sewon), officers have also been to the scene,” he said when contacted by detikJogja on Saturday (29/8/2026).

Sutrisno added that police had also taken a statement from the victim, as she went directly to the Sewon Police station after the incident.

“The victim has come to the police station to give a statement,” he said.

As a result, police are currently conducting an investigation to uncover the case, including taking statements from witnesses around the scene.

“Police are currently carrying out an investigation,” he said.

A similar incident occurred more than a week earlier. A woman who was jogging became the victim of a breast groping attack in the Pandowoharjo area of Sewon, Bantul.

Head of Public Relations for Bantul Police, Iptu Rita Hidayanto, confirmed the incident. However, the victim has not yet filed a report with either the Sewon Police or the Bantul Police.

“It is true (there was a breast groping attack in Sewon), but the victim has not yet filed a report,” Rita said when contacted by detikJogja on Thursday (20/8/2026).

Although the victim has not filed a report, Rita said police had visited the scene to verify the incident.

“But members of the Sewon Police have already visited the crime scene to carry out checks,” she said.
