Breaking News: US Dollar Rises to Rp17,865

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Pressure on the rupiah exchange rate intensified on Friday’s trading (29 May 2026). The national currency continued to weaken against the US dollar and is now approaching the next psychological level of Rp17,900/USD.

According to Refinitiv data, at 9:33 AM WIB, the rupiah weakened 0.51% to Rp17,865/USD.

The depreciation was more pronounced compared to the morning opening. At the start of trading, the rupiah opened 0.14% weaker at Rp17,800/USD.

This opening level marked the rupiah breaching the psychological Rp17,800/USD threshold. Currently at Rp17,865/USD, it is now closer to the next psychological level of Rp17,900/USD.

This continues the rupiah’s weakening trend from the last trading day before the Idul Adha holiday. On Tuesday (26 May 2026), the rupiah closed 0.25% weaker at Rp17,775/USD.
