Breaking News! Rupiah Weakens Further to Rp17,300 per US$

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The rupiah exchange rate is facing increasing pressure against the US dollar on Wednesday’s trading (29/4/2026). According to Refinitiv data, the Garuda currency was observed to correct more deeply by 09:18 WIB, breaking through the Rp17,300/US$ level or depreciating by 0.52%. This pressure extends the rupiah’s weakening since the morning trading opened. Previously, the rupiah had already opened 0.26% weaker at Rp17,255/US, afterclosing0.15. The pressure on the rupiah is occurring as global market participants remain cautious ahead of the US central bank’s interest rate announcement, the Federal Reserve (The Fed). Additionally, the market is still monitoring uncertainties from the war in the Middle East. Rising oil prices are adding to concerns about global inflation pressures, which could ultimately affect interest rate directions and capital flows to emerging countries.
