Breaking News! Iran Targets US Marines in Jordan Following Wedding Bombing
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the launch of a large-scale retaliatory attack against United States forces. This lethal manoeuvre is a direct response to recent US military airstrikes that brutally targeted southern Iranian territory.
Quoting The Guardian on Wednesday (02/09/2026), the state broadcaster IRIB reported an official IRGC statement strongly condemning US ‘blind and desperate’ strikes on several civilian locations. The IRGC stated that the series of US strikes has instead triggered a boomerang effect, strategically tightening the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
“An attack that tightens the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and strengthens the determination of the fighters to suppress foreign forces disrupting the Strait of Hormuz,” the statement asserted.
In its first retaliatory action, the IRGC deployed new air defence systems that successfully shot down the 50th advanced US MQ-9 drone. This revenge operation continued with lethal ballistic attacks targeting US Marine barracks at Camp Titin, a military site located near Aqaba, Jordan.
The IRGC confirmed it will continue its retaliatory actions, stating that the defence agency aims to neutralise several US war facilities in the region.
“A large number of US troops have been killed, and several enemy installations and attack helicopters have been destroyed,” the group revealed.
So far, there has been no official response from the US regarding the attacks claimed by Iran.
Tehran’s anger peaked sharply after US missiles struck a civilian wedding celebration. IRIB shared video footage showing severe damage and debris scattered across the party site in the Sirik region, accompanied by the sounds of screams from residents as rescue teams rushed to the scene.
The Iranian Red Crescent detailed the chronology of the bloody incident, where missile fragments from the US attack tragically struck a residential house in Kuhestak, Sirik, in Hormozgan province.
“More than 50 people were injured and four people, including a small child, were martyred,” the agency reported.
Washington launched a new wave of attacks on Iran under the pretext of preventing Tehran from conducting activities that threaten the stability of the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed to have completed the latest wave of strikes targeting various locations believed to be IRGC sites.
“Today, US forces began attacking IRGC targets in Iran,” CENTCOM wrote in a post on X.
“These attacks follow recent attempts by the IRGC against commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and against US military personnel stationed in the region,” the post added.
