Jakarta - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) continued its rally in the second session today, Tuesday (9/6/2026). As of 15:19 Western Indonesia Time, the IHSG surged 6.5% to 5,692.85. A total of 657 stocks advanced, 126 declined, and 176 were unchanged. Transaction value reached Rp 21.59 trillion, involving 34.54 billion shares across 2.26 million trades. Market capitalisation rose to Rp 9,952 trillion.

The IHSG had earlier touched a 5% gain near the end of the first session before the rally was trimmed as the market digested Bank Indonesia’s surprise decision to raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 5.5%. BI Governor Perry Warjiyo stated, “This increase is a follow-up measure to strengthen the stabilisation of the rupiah exchange rate from the impact of high global volatility due to the war in the Middle East, and as a pre-emptive step to keep inflation for 2026 and 2027 within the government’s target range of 2.5%±1%.” He emphasised the policy also aims to enhance yields to attract foreign portfolio investment inflows.

The morning’s index leap followed a meeting between Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara), the National Private Banks Association (Perbanas), and several other financial sector stakeholders at the Nusantara III Building in the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta. Attendees included Himbara Chairman and President Director of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., Putrama Wahju Setiawan, and Perbanas Chairman and President Director of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., Hery Gunardi. Also present were Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Head of the SOE Regulatory Body/COO of Danantara Indonesia, Dony Oskaria. Dasco remarked, “Today, the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia is coordinating and evaluating the current situation relating to the banking situation in the country,” adding that the briefing indicated developments were “very good.” Meanwhile, external sentiment was relatively more conducive compared to the previous sell-off wave. While the rupiah remained around Rp18,160 per US dollar, its depreciation was limited, slightly easing investor concerns over potential continued pressure on domestic financial markets.
