Breaking News! Dollar Surges to Rp18,100

The pressure on the rupiah exchange rate deepened at the start of trading this week, Monday (8/6/2026). The Indonesian currency has broken through a new psychological level at Rp18,100/US$.

According to Refinitiv data, as of 09:07 WIB, just seven minutes after the market opened, the rupiah weakened to the level of Rp18,100/US$. This position represents a depreciation of approximately 0.50% against the US dollar.

With this position, the rupiah has once again recorded its weakest level ever against the US dollar. This pressure follows the final trading session of last week, Friday (5/6/2026), where the rupiah had closed slightly stronger by 0.06% at the level of Rp18,010/US$.

In the global market, the US Dollar Index (DXY) was actually observed to be weakening this morning. As of 09:00 WIB, the DXY fell by 0.07% to a position of 99.998. However, this position is still considered high after the DXY strengthened sharply by 0.66% during the last trading session of last week, returning to breach the 100 level.
