Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Bank Indonesia (BI) has once again kept its benchmark interest rate, the BI Rate, unchanged following its Board of Governors Meeting on Wednesday (21 October 2026).

“The Bank Indonesia Board of Governors Meeting on 20–21 October 2026 decided to maintain the BI Rate at 5.75%,” BI Governor Destry Damayanti said at a press conference.

A poll of 13 financial institutions by CNBC Indonesia Research found that most respondents expected the BI Rate to rise by 25 basis points (bps) to 6.00%.

Ten respondents forecast an interest-rate increase, while the remaining three expected BI to leave the rate at 5.75%.

BI had previously raised interest rates by a cumulative 100 bps over May and June 2026, from 4.75% to 5.75%. The increases were intended to maintain rupiah stability and anticipate inflationary pressures.
