The Palestinian legal aid organization Adalah confirmed that all activists of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) and the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) detained by Israel have been released from Ketziot detention facility, with one Israeli citizen remaining. All are currently in the process of deportation.

In a formal statement, Adalah asserted that Israel’s operation—from intercepting the ships in international waters to the detention of civilian activists—constitutes a clear violation of international law. They said participants in the humanitarian mission experienced systematic torture, humiliation, and arbitrary detention.

The release of the volunteers was described as the result of work by a legal team of more than 100 lawyers assembled by the Global Sumud Flotilla organising committee.

Most of the activists have been moved to Ramon Airport to be flown out of Israeli territory. Adalah’s legal team said it would continue to monitor the transfer to ensure all flotilla participants can be deported without further delay.

Although most foreign activists have entered the deportation phase, legal proceedings are still ongoing against one activist of Israeli citizenship, Zohar Regev. A hearing for Regev was held at the Ashkelon Magistrates’ Court.

Israeli authorities accuse Regev of ‘illegal entry into Israel’, ‘residing illegally’, and attempting to breach the Gaza blockade. Adalah, however, says these charges contradict the facts on the ground.

According to Adalah’s legal team, Regev was forcibly taken by the Israeli military from international waters to Israeli territory while on route to Gaza with the humanitarian mission to oppose the blockade causing a hunger crisis and suffering for Palestinians.

Adalah states that it now represents Regev in court and is demanding the immediate unconditional release of the activist.
