Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Indonesia Composite Index (JCI) continued its upward trend during the first trading session on Wednesday (30/09/2026). The benchmark index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange stood at 6,185.37, an increase of 63.67 points or 1.04%.

This strengthening occurred gradually since the opening. The JCI opened at 6,118.05, which also served as today’s lowest position, before moving up rapidly. The index experienced a slight correction around the 6,134 level mid-session but rebounded to hit a peak of 6,185.66.

During this morning’s trading, transaction activity became increasingly active compared to the start of the session. Trading volume reached 68.78 million lots with a transaction value of approximately Rp2.02 trillion. Previously, at the start of trading, the transaction value was only around Rp297 billion.

As trading continues today, domestic market participants will still face various sentiments from both domestic and international sources. A decline in oil prices could reduce market pressure today, but hawkish statements from the Fed could cause investor anxiety.

The global market is also awaiting two important pieces of news from the US today, namely the PCE inflation and economic growth data.

Global oil prices weakened on Tuesday (29/09/2026), as the recovery of Middle East oil exports eased supply concerns resulting from the US-Israel conflict with Iran. Brent crude fell 2.6% to US$102.59 per barrel, while WTI dropped 3.5% to US$89.38 per barrel. Despite the correction, Brent is still heading towards a monthly increase of approximately 13%, and WTI by around 4%.

In another sentiment, investors are also highlighting remarks from New York Federal Reserve President John Williams, who stated that the Fed still has time to examine economic data before raising interest rates again. However, one additional hike may be necessary before the end of 2026.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, assessed that the fluctuations in the JCI and the Rupiah are market dynamics that need to be viewed from a medium-term perspective. The government, alongside Bank Indonesia, is said to be continuously monitoring exchange rate movements, while short selling transactions have also been reactivated on the Indonesia Stock Exchange since 15 September 2026.
