The Indonesia Composite Index (JCI) deepened its losses during trading on Tuesday, 29 September 2026. According to Stockbit data at approximately 09:28 WIB, the JCI stood at the 6,020.57 level, down 127.29 points or 2.07%.

The JCI opened at 6,118.81 and briefly touched a daily high of 6,126.62 in the opening minutes. Subsequently, the index moved downwards gradually. A brief rebound to the 6,100 area occurred, but it was not strong enough to reverse the trend. Selling pressure dominated once again until the index touched its daily low of 6,013.08.

Trading activity also increased. Transaction volume was recorded at 110.24 million lots with a value of approximately Rp2,836.67 billion, or more than Rp2.8 trillion. Compared to data at around 09:22 WIB, which recorded a volume of 92.07 million lots and a value of Rp2,305.41 billion, there was an additional transaction value of about Rp531 billion in just a few minutes.

Pressure on the JCI occurred alongside the implementation of a new Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) policy, which reduced the minimum share price from Rp50 to Rp1 per share in the regular and cash markets starting Monday (28/9/2026).

This change is accompanied by adjustments to auto-rejection limits. For shares priced between Rp1 and Rp10, the Upper Auto Rejection (ARA) and Lower Auto Rejection (ARB) limits are set at Rp1, while the 15% asymmetric ARB remains applicable for shares priced above Rp10 until the end of 2026.

The IDX stated that the change in minimum price is intended to expand the trading range of stocks, improve the quality of price discovery, boost liquidity, and provide greater flexibility for investors in managing their portfolios.

At the same time, external pressures continue to shadow the domestic market. Tighter global monetary policies, a strengthening US Dollar, rising energy prices, and high global interest rates still have the potential to drive volatility in emerging market financial markets, including Indonesia.

In the currency market, the Rupiah weakened again against the US Dollar at the start of the week. According to Refinitiv data, the Rupiah closed depreciated by 0.53% to the position of Rp17,965/US, just35pointsawayfromthepsychologicallevelofRp18, 000/US.
