Breaking: Iran Fires Missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain

The Arab region is heating up once again. Iran has reportedly launched attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

This follows US strikes that hit 80 Iranian targets, including air defence systems, command and control networks, and anti-ship missile capabilities. The US claimed these strikes were in retaliation for Tehran’s attacks on three merchant vessels traversing the Strait of Hormuz.

Quoting CNA, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated they targeted 85 US military sites in the two countries in response to a “breach of the ceasefire”. The massive attack, they added, was a “response to Iran’s attacks on ships passing through these vital waterways and will cause significant losses to those targeting and attacking commercial vessels.”

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti military stated on date X that they were responding to missile and drone attacks, without specifying the origin of the strikes. Air sirens were also activated in Bahrain, urging citizens to seek the nearest safe shelters.

Previously, Iran and the US had maintained a ceasefire since 8 April, but fragile conditions have led to continuous violations. On 1unya June, the US and Iran signed measures to de-escalate the conflict.

In a post, US Centcom stated that the strikes aimed “to inflict significant losses on the targeting and attacking of merchant ships manned by innocent civilians in international waterways”. The new wave of attacks between the US and Iran threatens to reignite conflict in the region, sparking fears that the Strait of Hormuz could be closed again, which would cause oil prices to rise drastically and trigger global inflation.
