Breaking: Iran drone hits USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier
Iran’s state television said the drone launched by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has struck the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. However, Iran’s state television did not provide details on the claim. According to AFP, on Friday 6 March 2026, the state broadcaster offered no further information about the claim. Earlier, the IRGC claimed to have hit the U.S. carrier, but the Pentagon at the time said the launched missiles did not come anywhere near the target. Iran’s military has recently resumed drone attacks against Kuwait. Iran targeted American forces at the Camp Arifjan base in Kuwait. According to Al Jazeera and AFP, on Thursday 5 March, Iran said it launched drones at the U.S. base at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. The report was conveyed by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency. Iran also launched drones at Camp Udairi, where U.S. troops are located. The combat drones were launched. ‘Naval drone units of the armed forces’ drone units targeted the location of Camp Udairi, where U.S. troops are based in Kuwait, using combat drones,’ the military said in a statement broadcast on state television. Camp Buehring, previously known as Udairi, is a major U.S. military facility in northwest Kuwait.
