Online shopping activity during Ramadan has shifted to peak times around dawn meals and breaking fast, according to Lazada representatives. Speaking at the Lazada 3.3 Ramadan Mega Sale event in Jakarta on Friday, a spokesperson noted that unlike regular days when shopping activity typically increases during typical working hours—upon waking, arrival at the office, or after completing daily tasks—Ramadan shopping shows distinct spikes at 3 am and 7 pm.

The upward trend in online shopping had already begun before Ramadan itself, with consumers eagerly preparing by purchasing groceries for cooking, kitchen equipment, and electronics. As Ramadan arrives, fashion and beauty product purchases increase as consumers prepare for the holy month, whilst food items, cooking equipment, and personal care products also see heightened demand.

Electronics purchases, particularly large appliances and gadgets, have become increasingly popular given the proximity of salary payments and bonuses. Lazada has capitalised on this increased shopping activity during Ramadan by launching the 3.3 Ramadan Mega Sale with various consumer-friendly promotions.

The promotional campaign includes zero-per-cent instalment plans for 6–12 months, free product installation services, and time-specific discounts running from 2 March at 6 pm through 6 March offering savings up to 95 per cent, along with vouchers providing discounts up to Rp1.4 million. Lazada also provides consumer protection through its Once & Done customer service initiative, which offers rapid and effective support.

Additionally, Lazada has introduced an artificial intelligence feature to assist sellers, particularly local brands, in boosting their sales through the Ramadan Mega Sell programme.
