Breaking! After a brief rally, IHSG slips almost 2% again
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) reversed course into the red after earlier gains, slipping 1.92% to 6,249.26. A total of 532 stocks declined, 167 rose and 260 were unchanged. Trading volume reached 18.54 billion shares, with turnover of Rp10.26 trillion and a frequency of 1.25 million trades.
Earlier, ahead of President Prabowo Subianto’s address to the House of Representatives (DPR), the IHSG had turned higher, rising 1% to 6,430.97. There were 382 gainers, 260 decliners and 316 unchanged; trading volume reached 7.92 billion shares, turnover exceeding Rp4.83 trillion, with 615,000 trades.
At the morning session’s open, the IHSG opened down 0.29% or 18.47 points at 6,352.20. There were 156 losers, 146 gainers and 314 stocks moved little. Turnover was Rp158 billion with 235 million shares changing hands across 31,500 trades. Market capitalisation stood at Rp11,079 trillion.
Immediately after the opening, the IHSG slumped further into the red, down 1.35%. Among the most traded stocks this morning were BBCA, ASPR, BBRI, BUMI and TPIA.
Several sentiment factors are expected to weigh on market performance today, with the principal one being the central bank. Bank Indonesia (BI) will announce the results of the Board of Governors’ Meeting (RDG) on Wednesday afternoon (20 May 2026). This decision is among the most anticipated events for market participants, especially amid pressures on the rupiah and the domestic financial markets.
