Brawl Between TNI and Police Members Ends in Stabbings in Labuan Bajo
A number of Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) personnel from the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police were involved in a brawl with Indonesian Army (TNI AD) soldiers in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, NTT. Four Brimob members are suspected of being stabbed by three TNI AD soldiers in the bloody incident.
“The case is still under investigation,” said NTT Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, on Thursday (11/6/2026).
Henry revealed the case began when several Brimob personnel attended a thanksgiving mass for the inauguration of Brimob member Bripda JGR in Waemata Hamlet, Gorontalo Village, on Wednesday (10/6) evening. Initially, the event proceeded safely and in a familial atmosphere.
After midnight, a misunderstanding occurred between the Brimob members and several TNI AD soldiers at the location. An argument became unavoidable, culminating in a stabbing.
As a result of the brawl, Bripda RS, Bripda FA, Bripda BBK, and one other Brimob member became victims of assault. They sustained stab wounds to the back. According to Henry, several personnel at the scene immediately intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further.
“Our main focus at this time is ensuring all injured personnel receive proper medical treatment at Siloam Hospital Labuan Bajo,” said Henry.
Henry disclosed that three of the four stabbed Brimob members required inpatient medical care at Siloam Hospital Labuan Bajo. The police officers suffered stab wounds to the back.
“Only three are being treated, the other one has already been discharged. They were stabbed in the back, that’s all,” Henry stated.
According to him, NTT Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, along with Udayana Regional Military Commander Major General Piek Budyakto and Wira Sakti Military Resort Commander Brigadier General Hendro Cahyono, have conducted intensive coordination. This is to ensure the situation remains safe, conducive, and does not develop into a wider issue.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commander of the Pioneer B Battalion of the NTT Police Brimob Unit, AKP Antonio Cortareal, revealed that all four victims have undergone surgery at Siloam Hospital Labuan Bajo. He stated that all victims have received medical treatment.
“All have been operated on,” said Antonio on Thursday.
Antonio did not elaborate on the condition of the stab wounds suffered by the victims. However, he mentioned that three victims are still undergoing inpatient care, while one victim has been allowed to receive outpatient treatment. “Three are being treated (inpatient),” he stated.
The Udayana Regional Military Command has spoken out regarding the stabbing incident involving four Brimob members in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, NTT. Despite suspicions of involvement by three TNI AD soldiers, Kodam IX/Udayana stressed that this information is still under investigation.
Head of Information for Kodam IX/Udayana, Colonel Inf Amrizal Nasution, revealed that his office had received a report about a brawl that occurred at a thanksgiving event before the stabbing incident took place. “It is true that last night there was information about a brawl at the thanksgiving event,” said Amrizal.
Based on the information received, four Brimob members were victims of the stabbing. However, Amrizal stressed that the involvement of TNI members in the case cannot yet be confirmed.
“Until now, the truth of the involvement of TNI members is still under investigation,” Amrizal added.
“If indeed there are TNI members who are guilty, they will certainly be punished. Regarding the punishment, we will see what the problem is. We don’t yet know who, what it’s like, and what the problem is. Let’s just wait,” he concluded.
