Braving the Waves: BRI Officer Opens Financial Access on Seram Island

Under the frequently unpredictable skies of the Maluku Islands, a fibre boat cuts through the waves of the Haya Strait. On board, Asti Alimin, a BRI officer from the Masohi Branch (Piru Unit) in West Seram Regency, Maluku, stands vigilant, her eyes fixed on the horizon as she performs her duty: bringing hope to customers in the remote archipelago.

Asti’s journey is far from a standard workday. For the people of West Seram, she serves as a bridge connecting their aspirations to financial services. Her dedication began in 2020 when she was tasked with managing a region consisting largely of oceans and small islands, including Kelang Island, which presents some of the greatest logistical challenges.
