Brantas Abipraya (Persero), a state-owned construction company, is carrying out the development of Sekolah Rakyat in seven regions across Indonesia. The project is targeted to commence operations in the new academic year in July 2026. Sekolah Rakyat is part of a programme championed by President Prabowo Subianto to improve human resource quality and break the intergenerational cycle of poverty.

Dian Sovana, Secretary to the Corporate Secretary of Brantas Abipraya, said the company is involved in building Sekolah Rakyat in Southeast Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, Lampung, West Java (two sites), East Java, and North Sulawesi. “Brantas Abipraya’s role is not only to construct the buildings but to ensure basic infrastructure, accessibility, and the quality of construction support the long-term sustainability of the schools,” she said in a written statement, Wednesday (4 March 2026).

According to her, in undertaking this project, Brantas Abipraya applies quality, timeliness, and safety standards.

The company ensures regional connectivity support so that the mobility of students, teachers, and logistics distribution can operate optimally.

In terms of design, Sekolah Rakyat adopts an integrated dormitory concept with standard facilities across Indonesia.

Facilities include primary school, junior secondary school, and senior high school buildings; staff housing blocks for male and female teachers; student dormitories; a mosque; a multipurpose building; a canteen; and sports facilities such as a football pitch and basketball court.

“Construction progress is proceeding according to the planned stages. We are committed to completing this project with the best quality so that it can be utilised by the community as soon as possible,” she said.

Currently, the finishing stage of buildings and supporting facilities is ongoing to ensure readiness of the infrastructure.

Dian stated that the government together with Brantas Abipraya targets completion in June 2026, so that it can be used in the new academic year from July 2026.

“The presence of Sekolah Rakyat is expected to be a catalyst for equalising access to education for children from underprivileged families,” she concluded.
