This approach is effective as it does not disrupt project progress and accelerates the provision of certified construction workers on-site.

JAKARTA (ANTARA) – PT Brantas Abipraya, in collaboration with the Palembang Regional Construction Services Agency of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), has certified 300 strategic construction workers at levels 1-3 for the Lampung People’s School (SR) project under the 2026 fiscal year.

“This was conducted on-site, with around 300 construction workers directly involved in the national strategic project,” said PT Brantas Abipraya’s Corporate Secretary Dian Sovana in a statement on Monday in Jakarta.

She stated that the certification process is part of efforts to enhance construction workers’ capacity and competency to meet the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI), while also supporting the acceleration of the People’s School construction as part of the government’s Rapid Best Results Programme (PHTC).

She noted that certified participants came from various construction fields, including building foremen, construction supervisors, rebar workers, painters, carpenters, light steel frame installers, and tile and ceramic installers.

She stated that worker certification is crucial for maintaining the quality of national education infrastructure construction.

She believes construction success depends not only on material quality and construction technology but also on the competency of on-site human resources.

“Therefore, we fully support the construction worker certification process as part of our commitment to delivering high-quality, safe, and sustainable development,” she said.

Dian said the People’s School project requires competent workers to optimally meet quality, safety, and timeline targets. She added that this is important as the project is a strategic initiative with significant social impact for the community.

“Through this certification, we aim to ensure frontline construction workers meet national standards and deliver the best possible work,” she added.

The certification activities were conducted on-site at the project location to ensure effective assessment without disrupting ongoing construction work.

“We are committed to supporting national infrastructure development by enhancing professional, competent, and competitive construction human resources to realise Indonesia’s Golden 2045,” Dian said.

Acting Director General of Construction at the Ministry of Public Works, Indro Pantja Pramodo, stressed that the construction sector plays a strategic role in national economic growth.

He noted the sector contributes 10.96% to the national gross domestic product (GDP) and employs approximately 8.5 million workers.

“Therefore, strengthening construction workers’ competency is crucial to ensuring national infrastructure is built to the highest quality,” Indro said.

He added that the People’s School project is part of the government’s priority agenda to strengthen Indonesia’s human resource quality.

He stressed that the success of strategic projects like the People’s School heavily depends on the quality of on-site construction workers. Under Law No. 2 of 2017 on Construction Services, all workers must hold a Work Competency Certificate.

“This certification is not merely an administrative formality but a quality assurance for the built infrastructure,” he explained.

Indro also praised the collaboration between the government and construction state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in accelerating national development through enhanced construction human resource competency.

“This approach is effective as it does not disrupt project progress and accelerates the supply of certified workers on-site,” he said.

According to Ministry of Public Works data, the 2026 infrastructure development agenda is expected to require around 37,356 construction workers, comprising 754 experts, 2,676 technicians, and 33,926 operators.

Specifically, strategic infrastructure sectors, including the People’s School project, are projected to require 13,522 construction workers.
