PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) is accelerating the construction of the Sekolah Rakyat Jatim 2 project as part of its support for the government’s priority agenda to improve human resource quality. This project also forms part of the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita programme. Brantas Abipraya’s President Director, Agung Fajarwanto, conducted a Management Walkthrough at the project site on Tuesday (7 April 2026) to ensure that work progress is on target. “This People’s School project is not merely physical construction but also a long-term investment in producing Indonesia’s elite generation. We are committed to speeding up the completion of this project, of course prioritising the highest quality, while still emphasising work safety aspects,” Agung stated in a press release on Tuesday. He emphasised that the acceleration of the project construction is a manifestation of the company’s contribution to supporting the equitable distribution of quality education access in Indonesia. According to him, education is one of the strategic instruments in eradicating extreme poverty. On a separate occasion, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that the People’s School programme is expected to be one of the solutions in curbing poverty rates. He explained that education is the most effective and efficient way to reduce poverty, so this programme is hoped to drive the achievement of zero per cent poverty. For information, the Sekolah Rakyat Jatim 2 project began in December 2025 and is targeted for completion in June 2026. The facilities built in this project include school buildings for primary, junior high, and senior high school levels, student dormitories, vertical housing for teachers, a multi-purpose building, canteen, kitchen, mini soccer field, ceremony field, as well as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) utility buildings. All buildings are designed as two storeys to optimise space function and land use efficiency. The People’s School programme itself is an initiative of President Prabowo Subianto that is part of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 8 of 2025 on Poverty Alleviation and the Eradication of Extreme Poverty.
