BRAN aims to complete organisational structure within 100 days
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The head of the Agrarian Reform Agency (BRAN), National Police General Prof. Dedi Prasetyo, is targeting completion of the agency’s organisational structure and working procedures within 100 working days. The newly established agency was formed on 1 October 2026.
Dedi said completing the structure and procedures was a crucial foundation for ensuring BRAN’s division of responsibilities, working arrangements and institutional coordination mechanisms could operate in a focused and effective manner.
“BRAN’s organisational structure and working procedures are currently being drafted, and we are targeting completion within 100 days. God willing, we will be up and running next year. This is important so that BRAN can carry out its duties and functions effectively as soon as possible,” Dedi said in Jakarta on Friday.
The institutional strengthening is taking place alongside BRAN’s efforts to explore collaboration with various ministries and agencies, including the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM).
On Friday afternoon, Dedi, a former deputy national police chief, met with Komnas HAM to strengthen cooperation on the fair handling and prevention of agrarian conflicts, with a focus on restoring people’s rights.
Through its discussions on cooperation with Komnas HAM, BRAN is committed to initiating a collaborative mechanism that respects the mandates of both institutions.
Dedi said the cooperation was designed to uphold human rights principles and focus on achieving tangible resolutions to conflicts on the ground.
He stressed that the success of BRAN’s agrarian reform programmes would not be measured solely by administrative indicators.
“For BRAN, the success of agrarian reform is measured not only by the area of land reorganised or the number of certificates issued, but also by progress in resolving conflicts, legal certainty, the restoration of the rights of affected communities, and improved access to decent livelihoods,” he said.
Since BRAN was established and its head appointed on 1 October 2026, Dedi has met with a number of ministries and agencies to take stock of land disputes in various regions.
BRAN is a new institution established under the Agrarian Reform Regulation Law.
Under the law, BRAN is tasked with resolving legal deadlocks in the settlement of agrarian conflicts.
The agency will also be able to plan and draw up a roadmap, designate priority locations for agrarian reform, and verify objects and parties involved in agrarian conflicts.
