Railway explosion: An explosion took place at 6:55 p.m. on Monday
near Tanjung Rasa village at kilometer 86 of the Cikampek-Cirebon
railway line in West Java. No fatalities were reported as the
track was clear when the blast took place, and soon after the
explosion railway officials stopped all trains from proceeding
along the track. Around one hour later a piece of steel bar,
between four and five meters in length and the thickness of a
man's arm, was found placed on the railway track between Bandung
and Cikampek, also in West Java. Akhmad Sujadi, spokesman for the
Bandung branch of state railway company PT KAI, assumed that both
incidents were attempts at sabotage. "Fortunately, we noticed the
steel bar before any trains could come along," Akhmad said. --JP
