Brace Yourselves, Indonesian Residents! Traders Begin to Stop Selling This Plastic, Expensive and Hard to Get

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Plastic traders at Pasar Kemiri Muka in Depok have revealed that they are starting to limit sales of several types of plastic due to rapidly rising prices and very limited supplies. One of them, Dodi, currently does not sell clear kilo plastics because the price is increasing rapidly, even rising by Rp500 every two hours. Additionally, the supply of that type of plastic is very limited from the factory. “We’re not selling clear kilo plastics for now, the price increase is really fast, it once rose by Rp500 in two hours, and on top of that, the stock from the factory is limited,” said Fikri when met by CNBC Indonesia on Friday (17/4/2026). He also complained about the significant price increase for clear kresek plastics, which previously cost Rp35,000 and now Rp50,000. “The kresek clear ones have the highest increase, from Rp35,000 to now Rp50,000 per pack,” he explained. Another plastic trader, Fadli, admitted that the highest increase is for clear plastics with clips, where the initial price reached Rp15,000 and now Rp50,000 for 50 pieces. “Plastics are still rising, almost all types of plastic are increasing, the highest is the clear one with clips, from Rp15,000 to now Rp50,000 per 50 pieces,” said Fadli. He also complained about the limited supply, especially for clear kilo plastics. However, he still sells them even though they are now quite expensive. “As for the supply, the difficult one is the clear kilo plastics, the ones for ice cubes and wrapping snacks like that, the stock is hard to get,” he explained.
