BPWI Emphasises that Women Must Not Be Exploited by AI
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Business and Professional Women Federation (BPWI) has emphasised the importance of Indonesian women not becoming immersed in using technology or being exploited by artificial intelligence (AI). “Women must not be exploited by AI, but rather should be able to utilise AI for professional advancement,” said BPWI President Giwo Rubianto Wiyogo in an official statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. At the inauguration of the BPW Club Banten board in Banten on Monday (6/4), Giwo stated that women must be empowered and play an important role in building the nation’s future. “This shows that women are very responsive to digitalisation and have the potential not only as users but also as initiators in the utilisation of technology,” she said. On the other hand, she also claimed that the inauguration of the BPW Club Banten board is one of the strategic steps by the BPWI Federation in expanding the women’s and youth empowerment movement in various regions. In response, Banten Deputy Governor Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah emphasised the importance of women’s empowerment through strengthening family-based economic sectors, encouraging women to develop home industries as a strategic step in improving economic independence and strengthening regional economic resilience. The inauguration event was then continued with the symbolic handover of “HerTech: Empowered Women in AI” Training Certificates, which was held on Thursday (2/4) and represents a collaboration between ICT Watch, FBPWI, and BPW Banten.
