BPSDM Kemendagri Emphasises National Defence Spirit for CPNS Facing Digital Era
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Human Resource Development Agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs (BPSDM Kemendagri) emphasises the importance of the national defence spirit as the foundation for developing professional, adaptive, and integrity-driven civil servants (ASN) in facing the challenges of the digital era and technological disruptions.
This assertion was made as part of the Basic Training for Prospective Civil Servants (Latsar CPNS) of the Ministry of Home Affairs for 2026 through the National Defence Spirit Flame Ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5).
Head of BPSDM Kemendagri Sugeng Hariyono, in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday, in an address read by Secretary of BPSDM Afrijal Dahrin, said that 21st-century challenges demand that ASN possess not only administrative skills but also the ability to adapt to rapid changes.
“The demands of the 21st century require ASN who are not only technically and administratively competent but also capable of critical thinking, bold innovation, digital literacy, adaptability to change, and cross-sector and inter-agency collaboration,” he said.
According to him, strengthening the national defence character is important because future ASN will face multidimensional threats, from cyber warfare and technological disruptions to the spread of manipulative information that could disrupt national unity.
“Becoming an ASN of the Ministry of Home Affairs means you have been chosen by the state to bear a noble responsibility. This is not just a job, but a calling of the soul to serve boundless dedication to Indonesia’s 280 million people,” he stated.
BPSDM also urged the CPNS to maintain integrity, prioritise national interests over personal or group interests, and strengthen solidarity among civil servants.
“Provide the best service in every task as a form of sincere worship, and maintain solidarity and unity among fellow civil servants to support the progress of the Ministry of Home Affairs,” said Afrijal.
The Latsar CPNS of the Ministry of Home Affairs for 2026 is attended by 398 participants divided into two waves using a blended learning approach. The programme began in January 2026 with self-directed learning and is now entering the classical learning stage.
Through this training, BPSDM Kemendagri aims to produce ASN who are not only technically competent but also possess strong character and readiness to face bureaucratic transformation and technological developments.
