BPS urges businesses to provide valid data for 2026 Economic Census
The DKI Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is urging business operators and the public to provide honest, accurate and valid data to Economic Census 2026 enumerators in order to produce real economic data for Jakarta’s economic future.
“We ask business operators and the public to support the 2026 Economic Census by providing honest and accurate data to enumerators for a better economic future for Jakarta,” said Head of BPS DKI Jakarta Province Kadarmanto in Jakarta on Monday.
He stated that enumerators will conduct data collection for the 2026 Economic Census from 15 June 2026 to 31 August 2026. According to him, the results of this decennial census will support Jakarta’s transformation into a global city. He added that the data will serve as a reference for increasing investment and economic competitiveness.
“Our target is to bring Jakarta into the top twenty global cities in the world by 2045, and enumerators are the front line of our national data quality,” he said.
He expressed appreciation for the readiness of the Thousand Islands Regency, which was considered the most stable in terms of personnel preparedness, with all deployed enumerators being local sons and daughters who understand the characteristics of the Thousand Islands region.
Meanwhile, Head of BPS Thousand Islands Regency, Alfhonso Triantoro, explained that there are 30 enumerators for the 2026 Economic Census, consisting of 25 Field Data Collection Officers (PPL) and 5 Field Supervisory Officers (PML) in the island regency.
“We deliberately involve local residents to facilitate communication access and make data collection more effective, considering the challenging inter-island transportation constraints,” he said.
Alfhonso explained that field data collection is scheduled to last 2.5 months, starting from 15 June 2026 to 31 August 2026. He added that the data collection focus covers four to six Local Environmental Units (SLS) per enumerator, including non-SLS areas such as resort islands and uninhabited islands that have business activities.
“To ensure data quality, BPS Thousand Islands staff will provide close mentoring to enumerators on the first two days of implementation, namely 15-16 June 2026,” he said.
Previously, Regent of the Thousand Islands, Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan, asked the local BPS to map the best business potential in the island regency of DKI Jakarta Province through the 2026 Economic Census.
“The 2026 Economic Census is a crucial national statistical agenda, and the results of this census will become the main foundation for formulating various development policies and strengthening the regional economy,” he said in Jakarta on Monday.
He assessed that accurate and high-quality data is essential for mapping business development, changes in economic structure, and the potential of leading sectors in the Thousand Islands. According to him, the success of this census depends heavily on the quality of data collected by enumerators in the field.
“Enumerators must be able to communicate well and guarantee the confidentiality of respondents’ data, and public trust is the key to producing accurate data,” he said.
