Tangerang (ANTARA) - The Tangerang City Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in Banten has confirmed that business operators in shopping centres who could not be met and have not yet been included in the economic census can submit their data online via the Computer Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) method, sent through electronic mail. “For tenants we have not had the chance to interview, we provide an alternative for filling in data through documents or online questionnaires. We will follow up on all of this data until the data collection process is complete,” said Ria Wamilda, Head of the Field Management Team at BPS Tangerang City, in Tangerang on Thursday. She stated that officers have now entered the second day of conducting the economic census targeting the Tangcity Mall shopping centre area. A total of 70 officers are recording data from approximately 1,500 operating tenants in the shopping centre. BPS Tangerang City, she said, is implementing several data collection methods to make the census process more effective, in addition to direct interviews using the Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application. “Officers have also provided questionnaires that can be left behind for business operators to fill in,” she said. For other census locations, BPS Tangerang City is targeting tenants at Mal @Alam Sutera in Pinang District. Coordination with the mall management has been carried out to ensure the data collection process runs smoothly according to schedule. Ria emphasised that the Economic Census does not only target business operators in shopping centres. Data collection is also being carried out on various types of businesses, ranging from street vendors, shops, home-based businesses, digital-based businesses, to tenants in commercial areas. This data collection aims to obtain a comprehensive picture of the development of economic activity in Indonesia. “BPS Tangerang City urges all business operators to participate actively by welcoming census officers and providing correct data,” she appealed. BPS ensures that all information provided will be kept confidential in accordance with applicable regulations and will only be used for statistical purposes. “The participation of business operators is expected to support the availability of accurate data as a basis for formulating development and economic growth policies in the future,” she said. Previously, the Head of the Tangerang City Communication and Informatics Office, Mugiya Wardhany, confirmed that all information provided by business operators to BPS officers during the 2026 Economic Census is guaranteed confidentiality. “There is no need to worry for all business operators visited by census officers. The data provided is guaranteed confidentiality. Therefore, provide data according to the actual conditions,” said Mugiya. He stated that the 2026 Economic Census is a national agenda held once every 10 years to provide basic data on all economic activities.
