BPS: Unsurveyed Businesses Can Submit Data Online
Tangerang (ANTARA) - BPS Tangerang City, Banten, has confirmed that business operators at shopping centres who cannot be reached and have not yet been covered by the economic census may complete their data online via the Computer Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) method, sent through electronic mail.
“For tenants who have not yet been interviewed, we provide an alternative for filling in data through documents or an online questionnaire. All of that data will be followed up until the collection process is complete,” said Ria Wamilda, Field Management Team Chair at BPS Tangerang City, in Tangerang on Thursday.
She said officers have now entered their second day of conducting the economic census targeting the Tangcity Mall shopping centre area. A total of 70 officers are recording data on around 1,500 tenants operating at the shopping centre.
BPS Tangerang City, she said, is applying several data collection methods to make the census process more effective. These include direct interviews using the Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application.
“Officers have also prepared questionnaires that can be left behind for business operators to fill in,” she said.
As for other census locations, BPS Tangerang City is targeting tenants at Mal @Alam Sutera in Pinang Subdistrict. Coordination with mall management has been carried out so the data collection can proceed smoothly according to schedule.
Ria stressed that the Economic Census does not only target business operators at shopping centres. Data collection is also being carried out on various types of businesses, from street vendors and shops to home-based businesses, digital-based enterprises, and tenants in commercial areas. This data collection aims to obtain a comprehensive picture of the development of economic activity in Indonesia.
“BPS Tangerang City urges all business operators to participate actively by welcoming census officers and providing accurate data,” she appealed.
BPS assures that all information provided will be kept confidential in accordance with prevailing regulations and will only be used for statistical purposes.
“The participation of business operators is expected to support the availability of accurate data as the basis for formulating development policies and economic growth in the future,” she said.
Previously, Mugiya Wardhany, Head of the Tangerang City Communication and Informatics Office, confirmed that all information conveyed by business operators to BPS officers during the 2026 Economic Census is guaranteed to remain confidential.
“There is no need to worry for all business operators visited by census officers. The data provided is guaranteed confidential. Therefore, please provide data according to actual conditions,” said Mugiya.
He said the 2026 Economic Census is a national agenda carried out once every ten years to provide baseline data on all economic activities.
