BPS to deliver health data
JAKARTA: The Ministry of Health signed on Monday an agreement with the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) to help speed up the delivery of regional health data.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Health Sujudi and BPS chief Soedarti Surbakti.
Sujudi said the agreement was necessary because the delivery of health data had deteriorated since the implementation of regional autonomy in January 2001.
He hoped the cooperation between the two institutions would allow people to receive the latest data on disease eradication, the promotion of a healthy environment and lifestyle and other health-related matters.
"We don't have any officials in the regions since autonomy, so the delivery of data is not good.
"BPS can help us because it has representatives in the provinces, regencies and mayoralties," he said. --JP
