BPS Supports 2026 Regional Outstanding Local Government Awards through Accurate Data Supply
The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has expressed its full support for the 2026 Java-Bali Regional Outstanding Local Government Awards, held at the Yogyakarta Marriott on Thursday (4/6/2026). This support is manifested through the provision of accurate statistical data as the primary basis for objectively assessing regional performance.
The Head of BPS, Amalia Adininglar Widyasanti, expressed high appreciation to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) for the initiative to organise awards based on real data. She noted that this step strengthens the role of statistics in policy-making and national-level recognition.
“I would certainly like to convey extraordinary appreciation to the Minister of Home Affairs for organising a regional award event based on statistical data produced by BPS,” said Amalia following the event.
Amalia explained that the 2026 Java-Bali Regional Outstanding Local Government Awards utilise three main macro indicators regularly released by BPS down to the regency/city level. These indicators include poverty alleviation, the acceleration of stunting reduction, and inflation. “The Minister of Home Affairs utilises this data because we release it on a regular and consistent basis,” she added.
At the same venue, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, emphasised that the entire assessment process is strictly supervised. He guaranteed that the results are a pure representation of accountable quantitative performance.
“I am supervising this, and I declare that this is the ‘heartbeat’ of the people. If it is not transparent, we will lose our integrity,” stated Tito.
Through this competitive and data-driven assessment system, the central government hopes that high-achieving regions will maintain their performance, while underperforming regions will be motivated to improve for the welfare of the community. The government remains committed to monitoring crucial indicators such as unemployment, poverty, stunting, and inflation to maintain public trust in local government performance across Indonesia.
