BPS Strengthens Data Synchronisation for Post-Disaster Housing Aid Recipients in Sumatra and Aceh
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) is strengthening the synchronisation of beneficiary data as a foundation for accelerating the construction of permanent housing (huntap) in post-disaster Sumatra. This step is intended to ensure that the distribution of aid and the construction of permanent housing are precisely targeted and to avoid data discrepancies between ministries and agencies.
The data synchronisation was revealed during a Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration of Permanent Housing Construction held by the Sumatra Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The meeting was chaired by Brigadier General TNI Andre Julian, Deputy for Data of the National PRR Post. BPS reported that the results of matching the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN) have reached 31,154 families, consisting of 21,782 families in Aceh, 5,187 families in North Sumatra, and 4,185 families in West Sumatra.
The verification results also mapped the needs for handling based on the construction scheme. A total of 16,126 families fall into the category of recipients for centralised relocation permanent housing, 8,746 families for independent ex-situ permanent housing, and 6,036 families for in-situ permanent housing. Additionally, 21,436 families were recorded as having heavily damaged homes, and 208 families are in heavily damaged zones.
“Nevertheless, the synchronisation process is still ongoing,” said a BPS representative. This is because the data matching results for 6,734 families still need to be adjusted to the Decree on recipients of housing stimulus aid. Furthermore, data matching in Langsa City and the Mentawai Islands Regency still requires further resolution with local governments.
The meeting leader, Brigadier General TNI Andre Julian, agreed that data validation is a crucial stage before determining aid recipients and implementing permanent housing construction. “We request that the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas and the National Disaster Management Agency immediately submit the list of prospective recipients to BPS so that the matching and verification process can be completed before construction begins,” he said.
In addition to ensuring targeting accuracy, the validated data will serve as the basis for inter-ministerial coordination in determining construction schemes, land provision, and the stages of rehabilitation and reconstruction in the three affected provinces. Head of the PRR Task Force, Tito Karnavian, stated that data synchronisation between ministries is an integral part of efforts to accelerate community recovery after the disaster. According to him, the entire process is directed towards ensuring that survivors promptly obtain safe and liveable permanent housing, thereby accelerating the recovery process.
