BPS Reveals Why Decile Data Can Change, Here Are the Causes

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has explained that changes in public decile data can occur after data updating is carried out. BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that community conditions are dynamic, so data needs to be continuously updated to align with current facts.

According to her, updating is key to ensuring that the data used by the government truly reflects the conditions of the community on the ground. “The key is that updating is important so that it matches the current conditions of the community,” Amalia said in Jakarta on Friday (28/8/2026).

She explained that data adjustments can be made after members of the public participate in the updating process and submit the latest information. The results of the updating will then be adjusted to the factual conditions found in the field.

“Data is dynamic, and of course after we carried out the updating, it turned out that they were cooperative in carrying out the updating accompanied by BPS, and it was proven that after being updated, it matched the facts in the field,” Amalia said.

She emphasised that data that has not been updated does not necessarily fully reflect the current condition of an individual or household. Therefore, the public needs to enter data through the updating channel so that the recorded information can be adjusted.

“It has not been updated because they have not entered their data into the updating channel. After it was updated, it matched. So the key is that updating is the key to ensuring the data matches the facts that occur,” Amalia said.
