BPS Reveals Jakarta Unemployment Figures, Dominated by Graduates of What?
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) DKI Jakarta has revealed that graduates of SMA and SMK are the groups contributing the highest unemployment rates in Jakarta as of February 2026.
The Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, stated that the open unemployment rate (TPT) for general high school (SMA) graduates was recorded at 7.58%.
Meanwhile, SMK graduates form the group with the highest unemployment figure, reaching 8.15%.
“On February 2026, the TPT for general SMA graduates was 7.58%,” said Kadarmanto in his official statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
This figure is followed by university graduates at 3.79%, junior high school (SMP) graduates at 3.87%, and those with primary school (SD) education or below at 5.32%.
Based on the National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas) for February 2026, the number of unemployed people in Jakarta reached 333,860.
Overall, Jakarta’s open unemployment rate is at 6.03%.
“This means that out of every 100 members of the labour force, around six people are not yet working,” said Kadarmanto.
BPS also noted that the unemployment rate for men remains higher than for women. The male TPT was recorded at 6.54%, while for women it was 5.28%.
Compared to the previous year, the number of people in the labour force increased by 57,640, while the number of employed people rose by 62,180.
In the same period, the number of unemployed people decreased by 4,540.
From the perspective of business sectors, the trade sector is the largest absorber of labour in Jakarta, with a contribution of 22.40%.
This is followed by the accommodation and food and beverage sector absorbing 13.28% of the workforce, transportation and storage at 11.85%, manufacturing industry at 10.74%, and other service activities at 10.53%.
