BPS Reports Youth Literacy Rate in Banten Approaching 100%

BPS Banten reported that youth literacy rates in Banten are nearly 100%, with a rate of 99.95%. School participation rates at the primary level have reached 99.52%. In a statement on 30 May 2026, the agency highlighted that this achievement is due to 97% of teachers meeting the minimum academic qualification of a bachelor’s degree (S1) or diploma four (D4). However, while 84.38% of students are active online, most rely solely on mobile phones, with only 20.11% having access to laptops or computers. BPS Banten said this presents a strategic opportunity for the Banten Provincial Government to enhance digital infrastructure to maximise learning outcomes.
