The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has detailed the latest developments in the export performance of several Indonesian natural resource commodities, ranging from coal and palm oil to ferroalloys, for the period of January to April 2026.

During a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, BPS Deputy for Methodology and Statistical Information, Pudji Ismartini, stated that the export value of coal (HS 2701) stood at US$1.82 billion in January 2026, followed by US$1.66 billion in February, US$2.03 billion in March, and reached US$2.07 billion in April 2026. According to Pudji, the primary export destinations for Indonesian coal during this period were India, China, and Japan.

Meanwhile, palm oil exports (HS 1511) were recorded at US$2.29 billion in January 2026, increasing to US$2.40 billion in February. The export value then dropped to US$1.42 billion in March before rising again to US$2.11 billion in April 2026. The main markets for Indonesian palm oil during the first four months of the year were India, China, and Pakistan.

On the other hand, ferroalloy exports (HS 7202) showed a consistent growth trend throughout January to April 2026. The export value for this commodity was recorded at US$1.18 billion in both January and February, increased to US$1.38 billion in March, and reached US$1.41 billion in April 2026. The primary destinations for Indonesian ferroalloy exports during this period were China, South Korea, and India.

During the same session, Pudji also addressed questions regarding the potential impact of implementing a single-door export agency on Indonesia’s future export performance. He explained that the data released by BPS currently reflects the import-export performance for April 2026, whereas the initial transition phase for natural resource export policies is set to begin on 1 June 2026.

“The data released by BPS is the import-export data for April 2026, while the initial transition stage for these natural resources begins on 1 June 2026. Therefore, how this will influence export performance may become apparent from the export data released in June,” said Pudji.
