BPS records Indonesia's early 2026 trade balance surplus of $0.95 billion
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded a trade balance surplus of $0.95 billion in January 2026, with exports of $22.16 billion and imports of $21.20 billion.
Ateng Hartono, Deputy for Distribution Statistics and Services at BPS, announced at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday that national export products in January 2026 increased 3.39 per cent year-on-year, whilst imports surged 18.21 per cent year-on-year.
The increase in export value was supported by the non-oil and gas sector, with primary non-oil and gas product exports driven mainly by the processing industry, which saw export values rise 8.19 per cent year-on-year with a contribution of 6.54 per cent to the overall increase.
Imports, meanwhile, experienced year-on-year growth primarily driven by increased non-oil and gas imports, which contributed 14.4 per cent to the total.
