BPS records foreign tourist spending at US$1,285 in Q2 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that the average spending of foreign tourists (wisman) in the second quarter of 2026 reached US$1,285, an increase of 7.17 per cent compared to the same period in 2025, which was US$1,199. Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, Ateng Hartono, stated that although this value increased compared to the same period last year, the average expenditure was lower than the average spending per visit in the first quarter of 2026. “The average foreign tourist expenditure per visit reached US$1,285. This figure has decreased when compared to the average expenditure in the first quarter of 2026, but increased when compared to the second quarter of last year, or 2025,” Ateng said during an official broadcast monitored online in Jakarta on Monday. In the second quarter of 2026, BPS noted that the largest portion of foreign tourist spending was still used for accommodation, accounting for 37.21 per cent of total expenditure. Food and beverages contributed 19.81 per cent, while shopping and souvenirs accounted for 11.04 per cent. BPS also recorded that the average length of stay for foreign tourists in Indonesia during the second quarter of 2026 reached 10.30 nights. This duration was shorter compared to the first quarter of 2026, which was 10.83 nights, indicating that tourists spent less time holidaying in Indonesia. However, there was a shift in tourist consumption patterns in the second quarter. The proportion of spending on entertainment, vehicle rental, and domestic flights increased compared to the previous period. This rise in three spending categories indicates that foreign tourists are not only spending their budget on basic needs during their holidays but are also increasingly allocating funds to explore destinations and travel to various regions in Indonesia.
