BPS Records Annual Inflation at 3.34 Percent in June 2026

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded annual inflation at 3.34 percent in June 2026. This figure is higher than the 3.09 percent recorded in May 2026 on a year-on-year basis. Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, Ateng Hartono, stated that the Consumer Price Index rose to 111.89 in June 2026 from 108.27 in June 2025. “If we examine it by expenditure group, the year-on-year inflation was mainly driven by three groups,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. Ateng detailed that these three groups were food, beverages, and tobacco with inflation of 4.67 percent; personal care and other services with inflation of 10.10 percent; and transport with inflation of 4.57 percent. On an annual basis, the Central Statistics Agency recorded core inflation at 2.76 percent with a contribution of 1.77 percent. The administered prices component experienced inflation of 3.42 percent with a contribution of 0.66 percent, while the volatile prices component saw inflation of 5.58 percent with a contribution of 0.91 percent. Meanwhile, monthly inflation for June 2026 reached 0.44 percent, higher than the 0.28 percent recorded in May 2026 on a month-to-month basis. According to Ateng, the expenditure group contributing the most to monthly inflation was transport, with inflation of 2.29 percent and a contribution of 0.28 percent. “The dominant commodities driving transport group inflation were petrol with a contribution of 0.21 percent, airfares with a contribution of 0.05 percent, and engine lubricant or oil with a contribution of 0.01 percent,” he said.
