BPS Reaffirms Guarantee of Economic Census Data Confidentiality, Urges Public Not to Worry

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has guaranteed the confidentiality of public data collected through the 2026 Economic Census. BPS has urged the public not to worry and to participate in the data collection process.

Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti stressed that data provided by the public to census officers will be kept confidential. She also assured that the data collection in the Economic Census is not related to taxation purposes.

“Do not worry, we will maintain the confidentiality of the data and we also guarantee that this has nothing to do with taxation,” Amalia said after conducting Economic Census data collection at the residence of MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani in Jakarta on Friday (28/8/2026).

She encouraged members of the public who have not yet participated in the data collection to do so immediately. She also asked residents to remind family members, relatives, neighbours and colleagues who have not yet been enumerated to take part in the 2026 Economic Census.

According to Amalia, public participation is important to produce data that can describe the condition of economic activities more accurately. For this reason, BPS continues to encourage public involvement in the data collection process.

BPS also provides an option for members of the public who wish to fill in the data independently. Residents can use an online questionnaire without having to answer questions directly to census officers.

Access to this self-enumeration can be obtained through the officer who comes to conduct the data collection. The public can choose the most comfortable method of completion, either through an interview with an officer or online.

On that occasion, MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani also took part in the data collection conducted by BPS officers at his residence. Muzani answered questions regarding the number of family members and business activities run by his family and its members.
