BPS Ready to Provide Data to Support Accelerated Fulfilment of Children's Rights
Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti stated that her agency will promote strengthened collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in providing data to support the accelerated fulfilment of children’s rights in an inclusive and sustainable manner.
“The collaboration we will continue includes exploring the wealth of data and information from the National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas), particularly related to measuring early childhood development, the Early Childhood Development Index (ECDI),” she said during the Launch of the Indonesian Government and UNICEF Cooperation Programme for the 2026-2030 Period at the Bappenas Building in Jakarta on Monday.
To date, she continued, BPS has engaged in a strategic partnership with UNICEF that has made significant contributions to providing quality statistical data, especially regarding the fulfilment of children’s rights and welfare.
The cooperation between BPS and UNICEF has produced several important achievements, including the development of the ECDI, as well as conducting multidimensional child poverty analysis and child health and nutrition analysis based on Susenas data.
“Going forward, BPS reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting the sustainability of this collaboration between BPS and UNICEF, of course under the coordination of the Minister of National Development Planning,” she stated.
In addition to data provision, BPS will continue collaboration in calculating complementary feeding indicators up to the district/city level using the Small Area Estimation (SAE) method to provide disaggregated data.
This is because UNICEF desires the resulting data not only at the macro aggregate level but also disaggregated data needed to view details more thoroughly.
“Of course, we will continue to commit to collaborating with UNICEF to continue delivering the statistical data needed by the Indonesian government in development, and of course, we will continue to deliver quality statistics, meaningful statistics, and impactful statistics,” Amalia said.
