BPS Praises Bali's Economic Census Progress, Urges Greater Focus on Denpasar

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has praised the progress of the 2026 Economic Census in Bali, which has reached 43.35 percent, exceeding the national average of 42.75 percent. “For Bali, the average today is 43.35 percent. Looking at the regency and city level, Buleleng Regency is the highest at nearly 55 percent,” said BPS Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti in Denpasar on Saturday. She noted that this achievement as of early July places Bali among the top regions for the 2026 Economic Census, while the lowest progress is recorded in Papua Pegunungan and other parts of Papua. Upon closer examination, Amalia observed that several regencies and cities remain below the provincial average, particularly Denpasar City, and she has requested that local government pay greater attention. Amalia stated that Denpasar’s progress is the lowest in Bali at 31.38 percent, followed by Gianyar at 32.27 percent, Badung at 36.65 percent, Bangli at 46.22 percent, Klungkung at 46.27 percent, Jembrana at 47.05 percent, Tabanan at 47.96 percent, Karangasem at 51.07 percent, and Buleleng at 54.95 percent. Regarding Denpasar City, BPS has invited the local government to help oversee the census process, including using a dashboard to intervene at the sub-district level. “We also provide special access rights for regional heads, so they can monitor the progress of the census in their areas. This way, the Governor can also monitor, and we can track where officers are using live tracking,” Amalia said.
