JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has released a conversion table for the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI) 2025 to ease the adaptation of business actors and the government to the latest classification system.

BPS Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti stated that this table serves as a bridge between KBLI 2020 and KBLI 2025 to ensure a smooth transition without disrupting business activities.

“This conversion table is compiled to maintain ongoing comparability and serves as a guide in tracing correspondences between structures, both from KBLI 2020 to KBLI 2025 and vice versa,” she said during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026).

This system is an important reference in business licensing, economic data collection, and government policy formulation.

The KBLI 2025 update is conducted to align with the latest economic developments, including the emergence of new sectors such as artificial intelligence, content creators, and activities related to climate change.

On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that this update is crucial to keep Indonesia’s economic recording relevant to global dynamics.

“Various new economic activities or endeavours, such as artificial intelligence, content creators, and activities related to climate change like carbon capture and carbon storage, are now covered in KBLI 2025,” said Airlangga.

In the conversion table, there are three main patterns of change that business actors need to understand.

With this table, business actors can easily adjust their old business codes to the new system without having to make changes manually from scratch.

BPS targets the national implementation of KBLI 2025 no later than 18 June 2026.

During the transition period, KBLI 2020 and KBLI 2025 will be used simultaneously.

Amalia emphasised that business actors need not worry about their current permits.

“Some things to note are that permits issued before the implementation of KBLI 2025 remain valid,” she explained.

However, adjustments to KBLI 2025 are still required if there are changes in business activities, such as changes in objectives or the scope of business.

This adjustment process is carried out through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system or the General Legal Administration (AHU).

According to BPS, the entire process is designed to be simpler, integrated, and provide legal certainty for business actors.

Thus, the presence of KBLI 2025 is expected not only to simplify business administration but also to support a healthier and more adaptive investment climate in response to global economic developments.
