BPS Introduces New Indicator, 2026 Hajj Survey Shows 'Satisfactory' Score
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has introduced a new indicator to measure the quality of Hajj operations, the Indonesian Hajj Service Satisfaction Index (IKLHI). Based on the 2026 survey results, the IKLHI reached 83.28 points, falling into the satisfactory category.
Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti explained that the IKLHI is an improvement on the previously used Indonesian Hajj Pilgrim Satisfaction Index (IKJHI). The methodology was updated to make the assessment more comprehensive.
“Because this ministry is still new, we simultaneously updated the calculation methodology. It was previously called IKJHI, now it is the Indonesian Hajj Service Satisfaction Index or IKLHI,” Amalia said during a press conference with the Minister of Hajj and Umrah at the BPS office in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to her, unlike the IKJHI which primarily measured the final output of services in Saudi Arabia, the IKLHI also assesses the service process and covers both domestic and overseas services. “So the scope is more comprehensive. We are not only calculating the output, but also the service process. We are also not only assessing services in Saudi Arabia, but also services within the country,” she clarified.
Amalia detailed that the 2026 IKLHI consists of two components: the domestic IKLHI at 83.85 points and the overseas IKLHI at 82.71 points, resulting in a national IKLHI of 83.28 points, which is categorised as satisfactory.
Although a new indicator is being used, BPS still calculated the IKJHI using the old methodology so that the development of pilgrim satisfaction can still be compared with previous years. The result showed that the 2026 IKJHI reached 91.45 points, an increase of 2.99 points compared to 2025.
According to Amalia, this increase indicates that the service improvements made by the government were genuinely felt by the pilgrims. “If we calculate using the old method, the Indonesian Hajj Pilgrim Satisfaction Index reached 91.45, up 2.99 points compared to last year. This means the improvements and service enhancements provided by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah were truly felt by the Hajj pilgrims,” she said.
She added that the survey results were obtained from 14,400 heads of pilgrim groups who acted as respondents during the 2026 Hajj operations.
