Jakarta (ANTARA) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded Indonesia’s trade balance in February 2026 with a surplus of US$1.27 billion, comprising exports of US$22.17 billion and imports of US$20.89 billion.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, Ateng Hartono, stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday that the value of national exports in February 2026 rose by 1.01% year-on-year (yoy).

Ateng explained that this increase in export value was supported by the non-oil and gas sector, primarily in several commodities such as fats and vegetable and animal oils, nickel and its derivatives, and electrical machinery and equipment along with parts.

Meanwhile, processed industry exports in February 2026 increased by 5.24% compared to the previous year, with a contribution of 4.21%.

Furthermore, Ateng elaborated that from the import value perspective, there was also a year-on-year increase of 10.85%, mainly driven by non-oil and gas imports, with a contribution of 15.47% to the total.

The year-on-year increase in import value was also spurred by capital goods imports, which rose by 33.68% in February 2026, with a contribution of 6.16%.
