BPS: Indonesia's Trade Balance Recorded a US$5.64 Billion Surplus from January to April 2026
The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the national trade balance from January to April 2026 experienced a surplus of US$5.64 billion, with total exports amounting to US$92.15 billion and imports at US$86.51 billion.
During a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, the Deputy for Methodology and Statistical Information at BPS, Pudji Ismartini, stated that for April 2026 specifically, the national trade balance recorded a surplus of US$0.09 billion, with exports valued at US$25.30 billion and imports at US$25.21 billion.
According to Ismartini, the value of national product exports in April 2026 rose by 21.98 per cent year-on-year. He noted that this increase in export value was supported by the non-oil and gas sector, primarily through commodities such as animal and vegetable fats and oils, which contributed 5.9 per cent to total exports.
Furthermore, Ismartini explained that import values also experienced a year-on-year increase of 22.49 per cent in April 2026, mainly driven by a rise in non-oil and gas imports, which accounted for 12.39 per cent of the total, dominated by raw materials and supporting goods.
