BPS Guarantees Data Security for Jakarta Residents in 2026 Economic Census

Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti has assured the public that data confidentiality will be maintained during the 2026 economic census in Jakarta. She urged residents not to worry.

Amalia made the statement during the Declaration of the 2026 DKI Jakarta Province Economic Census at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, on Monday, 13 July 2026. She explained that the BPS has collaborated with several parties, including the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Telkom, and state printing company PT Peruri, to safeguard the data collected on BPS servers.

In her remarks, Amalia described the decennial economic census as a golden opportunity, likening it to a medical check-up for the economy. “With this economic medical check-up, the policy prescriptions that the Governor will later roll out for Jakarta will be more precise and accurate, in line with the current problems and conditions of Jakarta’s economy,” she said.

She stressed that public participation is crucial to ensure the collected data is correct and accurate. Amalia appealed to Jakarta residents to cooperate with BPS officers conducting the census. “When our census officers arrive, please welcome them, fill in the data correctly, and do not worry about the confidentiality of the data provided,” she stated.

Amalia further emphasised that the economic census is for statistical purposes, and individual and personal data confidentiality will be strictly maintained. “It is not for taxation purposes,” she stressed.

On the same occasion, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung also shared his views, guaranteeing that the census data confidentiality is secure. “Therefore, they should not be reluctant to report and submit truthful data about themselves and their families,” Pramono said.
