BPS: Foreign Tourist Arrivals Reach 7.45 Million by June, Highest Since 2020

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that total foreign tourist arrivals from January to June 2026 reached 7.45 million visits, the highest figure since 2020. Cumulatively, this represents a 5.71% increase compared to the same period in 2025, according to Ateng Hartono, Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, during an online press briefing in Jakarta on Monday. In June 2026 alone, the total number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia was 1.39 million. This figure comprised 1,210,879 arrivals through main entry gates and 175,696 arrivals through border entry points. On a monthly basis, the number of visits edged up by 0.32%, although it fell by 2.15% compared to June 2025. By country of origin, BPS noted that visits from Malaysia in June 2026 totalled 258,700, accounting for 18.7% of arrivals, but this represented a 13.25% decline compared to May 2026. Conversely, there was an increase in visits by Singaporean and Australian passport holders. Arrivals from Singapore reached 169,910, a month-to-month increase of 24.26%, while Australian visitors totalled 167,500, growing by 8.04% compared to May 2026 and making up 12.1% of total arrivals. Ateng noted that the majority of foreign tourists entered Indonesia through Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport, which recorded 604,962 visitors, dominated by Australian tourists totalling 156,706 arrivals. Soekarno-Hatta Airport recorded 240,681 foreign tourist arrivals, followed by Batam with 156,984 visits in June 2026.
