Semarang (ANTARA) - Deputy Chief of BPS Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi has assured that data from the 2026 Economic Census has no connection to taxation interests, so the public need not be afraid or worried about answering questions from census officers. “There is no connection to tax. We guarantee the confidentiality of the data is maintained,” Sonny said in Semarang on Thursday. Therefore, according to him, the public is obliged to provide correct data during the census implementation. He explained that the 2026 Economic Census will not only collect data on business actors but also down to the household level. Nationally, he said, there are 32 million business actors to be censused. In addition, he continued, there are 289.3 million individuals from 95.3 million families who are also targets of the census. Sonny explained the important role of the 2026 Economic Census data for the Indonesian economy. He explained that well-targeted development must be supported by quality data. According to him, the 8 percent economic growth target can be achieved if the economic structure is understood as thoroughly as possible. He said the economic census data will be beneficial for regional governments. “The census data will map the conditions of each region completely,” he said. The 2026 Economic Census will be conducted from 15 June to 31 August across all regions of Indonesia.
