BPS Chief Conducts Economic Census at MPR Speaker's Official Residence, Sticker Officially Affixed
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) conducted an Economic Census at the official residence of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani. The 2026 Economic Census is being carried out to ascertain the actual conditions of Indonesian society.
During the census at the MPR Speaker’s official residence on Jl Widya Chandra III, South Jakarta, BPS head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti accompanied the census officers.
The BPS delegation arrived at Muzani’s official residence at around 15:30 WIB. The census was conducted for approximately 30 minutes.
During the census, officers carried out checks and asked about the number of family members, businesses owned or operated, and other matters.
Muzani said the census is being conducted to ascertain the actual conditions of society. As an Indonesian citizen, he said he was proud of the census.
“Today, as a citizen, I received economic census officers from BPS. And the economic census officers came today accompanied by the Head of BPS. I would like to express my gratitude for this honour,” Muzani said on Friday (28/8/2026).
In answering questions from BPS officers, Muzani disclosed his actual circumstances in accordance with his capacity.
“We were asked about the number of family members, whether there are businesses, what businesses they are, whether handled by the family or our family members. We answered according to the capacity we have. Alhamdulillah, the process went well,” Muzani explained.
After the census was completed, officers affixed a sticker indicating that Muzani’s residence had undergone the Economic Census.
Muzani expressed hope that the census would be carried out properly and correctly, and that the results could be used to determine future policies for the Indonesian people.
“We hope this also becomes a way for the state to understand its population’s economic activities, so that policies to be taken in the future are policies based on correct data and figures,” he said.
Meanwhile, BPS head Amalia said Muzani was very cooperative during the census and disclosed his actual circumstances.
“We have just carried out data collection at the residence of MPR Speaker Muzani. This is evidence that the MPR Speaker is participating in the Economic Census, and he was very cooperative in answering our questions,” Amalia said.
Amalia also urged the public to participate in the census so that government policies can be better targeted.
“Of course, I would like to urge the public to continue encouraging relatives, family, neighbours and colleagues who have not yet been censused to participate in the census. Do not worry, we will keep the data confidential and we guarantee that it has nothing to do with tax,” Amalia explained.
BPS has also prepared an online questionnaire for members of the public who wish to complete it independently, with data collection carried out according to the questionnaire.
