BPS Announces Indonesian Economy Grows 5.29% in Q2
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced that economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 reached 5.29% year-on-year (yoy). Compared to the previous quarter, the economy grew by 3.73%. This was conveyed by BPS Deputy for Balance Sheet and Statistical Analysis, Edy Mahmud. “Indonesia’s economic growth in the second quarter of 2026, when compared to the second quarter of 2025 or YoY, grew by 5.29%,” he stated during a press conference at the BPS Office in Jakarta on Wednesday (5/8/2026). Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto expressed optimism that Indonesia’s economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 would remain above 5%. According to him, this achievement was driven by a number of incentive packages provided by the government and the realisation of incoming investment. “(Second quarter economic growth) is still above 5%. The second quarter is still related to investment, related to several incentives pushed by the government,” Airlangga said when met at his office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (29/7). Furthermore, Airlangga also estimated that national economic growth would be maintained in the third and fourth quarters. He stated that economic performance would be driven by the acceleration of government spending and investment. “Yes, in the third and fourth quarters, one of the things being pushed is government spending and investment,” he said.
