BPS and Pos Indonesia Launch Special Edition Commemorative Envelopes for 2026 Economic Census
The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and PT Pos Indonesia have launched Special Edition Commemorative Envelopes for the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026). This launch marks the first time in history that commemorative envelopes have been produced for an Economic Census.
The launch of these commemorative envelopes serves as a form of support from PT Pos Indonesia for the implementation of SE2026, which aims to capture a complete picture of economic activities in Indonesia. The Head of BPS Indonesia, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, expressed her appreciation for the support from PT Pos Indonesia, stating that the launch symbolises a special friendship and commitment to ensuring the success of one of the nation’s largest statistical undertakings.
“For us, this is not merely a commemorative envelope. It is a symbol of friendship, support, and a shared commitment to making our major collective endeavour, the 2026 Economic Census, a success,” Amalia stated in a written release on Sunday. She added that PT Pos Indonesia has long been a vital partner for BPS in providing statistical data, particularly regarding logistics and international trade goods, which are submitted to BPS periodically.
These remarks were made during a series of events including the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between BPS and PT Pos Indonesia, held alongside the National Coordination Meeting for the Implementation of SE2026 in Jakarta on Friday. Amalia noted that synergy between BPS and PT Pos Indonesia is increasingly relevant given the rapid development of the transport, logistics, and courier services sectors. As public and business activities become more dependent on connectivity and smooth goods distribution, these sectors contribute significantly to the national economy, as recorded in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) calculations by BPS.
“We do not only receive data from PT Pos Indonesia. Once BPS releases the latest data and statistics, that data will also flow to PT Pos Indonesia,” Amalia said. Through the signing of the MoU, the cooperation between BPS and PT Pos Indonesia will be expanded in terms of both scope and data exchange mechanisms. The exchange of data will be more integrated and automated through the use of Application Programming Interfaces (API), a move expected to support faster, more efficient, and sustainable data provision.
PT Pos Indonesia Director, Daud Joseph, remarked that this initiative would leave a historical footprint for future generations regarding the 2026 Economic Census, describing it as a contribution to the nation. He also noted that further support from PT Pos Indonesia for SE2026 would include PosPay payroll and ecosystems, postal insurance, logistics, and postage stamps. The event served as a momentum to strengthen coordination and ensure the readiness of BPS at central, provincial, and regency/city levels for the upcoming census.
