BPS: 2026 Economic Census to Target Digital Economy Players
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated that the target of the 2026 Economic Census (SE) includes all economic actors, including digital economy players. “The 2026 Economic Census is special because it covers agricultural sectors and includes the digital economy. This is new; ten years ago, it did not exist,” said BPS Principal Inspector Dadang Hardiawan in Palu on Sunday.
The statement was made during the launch of the 2026 Economic Census at Vatulemo Square, Palu, coinciding with a car-free day. As a symbol of support for the SE2026 implementation, Central Sulawesi Governor Anwar Hafid read a declaration committing to maintaining integrity, strengthening synergy, and supporting the provision of a quality economic database.
“This is mandated by law, conducted every ten years,” Dadang said. Field data collection for SE2026 will take place from 15 June to 31 August 2026. BPS will deploy 3,210 officers to record approximately 1.5 million business actors in Central Sulawesi. “All will be recorded. We hope all levels of society will welcome the census officers with open hearts,” Dadang added. The public in Central Sulawesi is encouraged to actively participate in making SE2026 a success through the TIR movement: welcome the census officer, fill in the data correctly and completely, and rest assured that the data provided is guaranteed and protected in accordance with statutory regulations.
